Title 1 Reading

What is Title 1?

Title 1 provides federal funding to your local school district each year.  This funding makes it possible for Northern Local to provide extra reading instruction for students at Glenford and Somerset Elementary in the primary grade levels.   This federal funding is determined by a school district's free and reduced lunch count.   Therefore, when families sign up for the free/reduced lunch program, it also helps the school!

 

What is Schoolwide?

The schoolwide program enables Glenford and Somerset Elementary to have reading intervention from a district reading teacher.  The Title 1 reading teacher works with students in the targeted grades, ususally at the primary level. When available, Title 1 funding is also used to provide other intervention materials, activities and supports in the Schoolwide buildings.
